When I am doing something I do it 100 %. As I have always had problems with my stomach I decided some day to do something against it. I started with the Hay diet, bought organic food and changed consequently from vegetarian to plant based diet. This had an enormous effect, not only that there were no more digesting problems, even my skin has become much better. Since about three years I have been using organic cosmetics, one year ago I topped it and started to wash my hair only with water. Since then it never became greasy (s. photo below, me in the middle of the most charming children at Stift Admont, after one week hair wash).

To top the organic cosmetics thing I had a new idea: why not producing it myself? Most of the ingredients are in the pantry, in the fridge or in the garden, what is missing can be bought in health shops in organic quality. To get ideas and recipes I read many books, one of the best is this: Naturkosmetik ganz leicht selber machen by Christine Monsberger (sadly only available in German, s. photo below), but there are similar titles in English you can find here.

In this book there are not only recipes for cleansing products, creams, soaps, infusions etc but also hundreds of tips concerning the healthy lifestyle and how to make it better. Very useful – if you are not sure what type of skin you are, you can find out with the help of the book. If you are starting to make the things you have to know this as there are so many herbs and plants for any type of skin and for any care you are searching for: face, body, hands, feet and hair. I found the best setting lotion for my hair in the book: it is 100 ml water, 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp cider vinegar, stirred and solved.

The most beautiful and most interesting part is the plant register with photos – from Aloe Vera to Zitrone (= lemon): one plant – two pages with all its benefits and recipes. I cannot stop scrolling through this book. If you have no time to produce the cosmetics yourself, Christine Monsberger will help you. You can buy a big number of cosmetic products from her. Order on her homepage or, if you happen to live in Carinthia, you can meet her on Fridays and Saturdays in Klagenfurt and in Villach where she sells the products on her market stands.
