TAKE THE RIGHT SWEETS
Sugar is sweet but when it comes into your body, it turns into acid. Bad news! This is a sad, but it helps to think about what we may take. It doesn´t mean that you are not allowed to eat sweets. But: it means that you should think about how often and how much you take sweets. Another – very good – “but”: there are sweets you may always take. Fresh fruits, smoothies with fresh fruits and fresh fruits with natural coconut or almond creams. When you are craving for sweets and you want to be on the safe side, take a ripe banana or a banana smoothie.
WHEN IN PARIS YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE “TUERIES”
There are exceptional cases: when in Paris where there are the best pâtissiers in the world, you must try some of what the French call “tueries” (= cakes and tortes to die for). A visit at Alain Ducasse´s patisserie is a must. He is the chef with the most Michelin starred restaurants in the world and the founder of the Académie du Goût*, a treasure chest for tips and recipes. Let the sweets and desserts in Ducasse´s restaurants melt on your tongue and keep the taste in mind. Or those by Christophe Michalak, a former Ducasse student.
WHEN AT HOME MAKE THE BEST
If you are not in Paris, you get the best sweets preparing them yourself. The funny thing is that the best sweets are almost always easy to make. Sometimes you only need 4, 5 ingredients, and you get “Nutella” that doesn´t only taste better than the original, but it is healthy too. WHICH IS THE BEST SWEETENER?
Other sad news – there is no good or better or best sweetener! It doesn´t make a difference if you take 3 tbsp coconut sugar, 3 tbsp maple syrup, 3 tbsp agave nectar or 3 tbsp sugar. All are sweet and all produce acid in your body. One of the most interesting findings is that sugar is “healthier” than honey because of the fructose-glucose in it. In sugar the relation is 1:1, in honey fructose is much higher. In the human body the relation between fructose-glucose is 1:1 as it is in sugar, that is why it is better tolerated than honey.
CHOCOLATE IS HEALTHY!
It is proofed and even scientific knowledge that chocolate is healthy (for the heart and for the vascular system)! Not the cheap tablets you get in the supermarket but high quality chocolate with 70 % cocoa and more. The best “chococolatiers” in France and in Switzerland produce even 100 % ones. If you like it you can eat it every day, as there is of course no sugar in. The highest percentage chocolate I have taken was 99 %, and I liked it very much. So if you can deal with this, become chocoholic and stay healthy!
