New Recipe – Iced Chocolate

When I was a child both my grandmothers used to make this in winter and I loved it very much. Later it became out of fashion. In our days there is a big revival as one knows that it is not only delicious – it is chocolate! – but also very healthy. Secondly it is easy to produce and it takes really no time to make it. The only thing you have to bear in mind: it should be in the freezer for at least 2–3 hours. You can take it out in the very last minute, it tastes very good when it is cold but also half an hour later (it starts being liquid after a while in warm rooms and is then not the best chocolate if your are having a party for kids).

  • Ingredients (serves 2 – 3)

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp maple sugar or coconut sugar
  • 7 – 8 tbsp cocoa powder (we love it dark)
  • salt (optional)
  • halves of pecan nuts or walnuts (the quantity depends on how many moulds you are going to fill – 8 moulds = 8 half nuts)

Heat the coconut oil in a pan over a very low heat. Add sweetener of your choice and the cocoa powder and stir well.

Place nuts (upside down) in silicone moulds or in an ice cube tray and fill with the liquid chocolate. Place in the freezer for about 2 – 3 hours.

To get the chocolate easily out let the moulds sit for one minute (upside down) on a parchment paper. They will afterwards slip out well.

When tasting the chocolate you will maybe find out that this is something for you – and only for you – and you will not offer it to guests. This can happen. Don´t feel guilty, this is normal and you can be sure to do something very good for your health as coconut oil and cocoa have millions of benefits. Enjoy being healthy!
