A Summery Lunch in the Mountain Landscape at the Restaurant "19"

Some months ago, it was in January, in lucky times before lockdown, I posted an article about the beautiful landscape around the Grimming mountain (s. photo above: it is the mountain in the background) and about Schloss Pichlarn, a former hunting castle that belonged to the Counts Lamberg. The castle has become a luxury hotel with wellness facilities, swimming pools (outdoor and indoor), golf course and inviting restaurants with most delicious dishes.

My husband and I who have often meetings nearby love to take lunch in the so called Restaurant “19” (s. photo below: the back of the building) … the golf players will know what this means as there are 18 holes on a course. Why do I mention this restaurant? Because it is open every day, you are sitting on a terrace in the most beautiful landscape and you can take a delicious summery lunch there. I am totally addicted to the salad with tomatoes, crunchy radishes, nuts and seeds and to the house made tagliolini with chanterelles and … leafy greens on top. Yeah, I love leafy greens.

The gardens are so lovingly tended, flowers are everywhere you look. It is a kind of white garden, Sissinghurst must have been the inspiration. Turn the eyes to the right and you will see a part of the castle with the beautifully painted doors and shutters in dark green and white. It is this kind of cosy castle one can imagine to stay and live in. Luckily you can do it whenever you want, without the huge maintenance costs of a castle as … it is a hotel.
